On this day being Friday 17th August 2012. It was dark and very foggy and wet under foot. Well down in Waitara anyway. I swear that I have a leak in my boot.
I was asked to assist with the shunting with Denyse at the controls and Les being Nº2. We had to pick up the Nak which is "piped only = no braking", from the Waitara Yards.
This vehicle was already loaded with ballast which was dug out form the Waitara yard where the points are being removed. With the PD or Corrections, it was their task of unloading of the ballast as we worked our way up the gradient. First stop was by Strange Street where the line has to be lifted. The second stop was where there is a drain from the paddock goes under the line, further up the gradient. The next and last to finish the unloading was by the embankment.
At the second and last stop I took some photos of the donated trees that Mike Z had received. It is with many thanks to the Magnolia Grove and Michielsen's Nursery.
Once all the plantings along the line and around the hulks in Waitara this will look a picture.
Again thank you to all who have done their bit.
